The Evolution of Community Engagement: New Approaches to Building Support for Real Estate Developments

The ways in which members of a community interact are changing rapidly. Much of this communication now takes place online, making it increasingly difficult to anticipate and influence the conversation. As we all know, false speculation and NIMBYism can prove to be the death knell for projects, no matter how well intended the development team may be. Join us for an enlightening panel discussion where we will explore new strategies for engaging with members of the community, with a focus on building informed supporters to counter negativity and misinformation.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Girls Can Build, an Arizona-based initiative powered by Sharp Construction with a mission to break down barriers to women in the industries of Construction, Design, Engineering, and Technology. By spearheading and supporting projects, opportunities and mentorship in these industries, Girls Can Build aims to inspire young women to be Bold To Build!

Market Disruption: How Thinking Outside the Box Can Fuel Business and Personal Growth

Outside of Shark Tank, have you ever wondered how new ideas make it to market? In the world of commercial real estate, it can be challenging to blaze a new trail instead of relying on what has been successful in the past. Join us as we hear from three local leaders on how they dared to think differently, identified unmet needs in the market, followed their intuitions, and convinced others to buy into their ideas.

Curt Kremer, Managing Partner at George Oliver Companies will discuss how his firm is disrupting the office market by designing spaces that have a measurable impact on organizational outcomes, such as enhanced employee engagement, increased productivity, improved recruitment and retention, reduced absenteeism, and lower healthcare costs.

Shelby Duplessis, Founder and Managing Partner of Diversified Future will speak on the topic of personal disruption and career transformation. Shelby began her career as a civil engineer, rising through the ranks to Senior Project Manager and Partner. Her first career pivot landed her in the development world, serving as President of Land Development for The Empire Group. Shelby recently pivoted again – this time starting her own real estate consulting and development firm focused on the residential and commercial sectors.

Casey Treadwell, Founder and Managing Partner of Vivo Partners will share his insights on disruptive trends in the retail sector. Casey’s experience as a retail developer has taught him how to anticipate trends and find opportunities in unique settings, thinking of retail space differently and trying things that catalyze growth and placemaking. His projects are inspiring and influencing others to make similar moves, transforming our environment in a positive way.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Passion to PowHer Day by Diversified Future. Passion to PowHer Day focuses on mentorship and connection that inspires, motivates and empowers young women ages 13 – 18 to reach for their dreams. The all-day event will feature interactive sessions and speakers that give participants resources and tools for setting and achieving goals, supporting mental and physical well-being and developing a confident mindset and positive outlook for overcoming challenges.

Modern Networking: Using Your Personal Interests to Build Relationships and Seal Deals

How often do you truly look forward to attending a networking event? How many times have you skipped out after considering all the other things you could be doing…finishing up at work, hitting the gym, spending time with your family, or just finding time to unwind? As individuals, we are pulled in multiple directions both at work and in our personal lives - and oftentimes, these priorities are in direct conflict with one another. Maybe that lunch meeting interferes with your project deadline, or after work functions coincide with coaching your kid’s soccer game. Choosing between multiple conflicting priorities just adds more stress to our lives!

The good news is that there is a different way to think about networking that leverages your personal interests and activities and is more effective for building strong, lasting connections. The key is to think outside the box when it comes to “networking” - not only what constitutes networking, but also where and when networking events can occur. Networking needs to work and justify the time and energy we invest in it. Modern networking is about breaking the age-old structure and forging a new way that fits into your life and fuels it at the same time.

Join our distinguished panel as we explore a modern take on networking that will help you find ways to intertwine your professional and personal life, with the goal of building your network and filling your bucket at the same time.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Project Athena, a non-profit organization that helps survivors of medical and/or traumatic challenges reach new athletic goals and achieve their adventurous dreams. Project Athena provides travel expenses, coaching, equipment, and most importantly, encouragement and inspiration needed to help these individuals make the life-affirming transition from Survivor to Athlete.
